Mrs. J.M.C. JayanthiWijethungeassumes duties as the Chief Secretary of the Western Province.

Mrs. J.M.C. Jayanthi Wijethunge who has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the Western Province commenced her duties on 05.02.2020 at the Office of the Chief Secretary located in Western Provincial Council Building Complex in Battaramulla.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Second Upper) from the University of Colombo and also a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Management from Postgraduate Institute. Further, she holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management and she also holds a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management from the Victoria University of Manchester.

Mrs. J.M.C Jayanthi Wijethunge, who is a special grade officer in Sri Lanka Administrative Service, has served as the Chief Secretary of the Western Province from 01.04.2013 – 20.09.2016.

Prior to her re-appointment to the post of Chief Secretary of the Western Province, she has served as the secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Wild life Resource, the Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms and the Secretary to the State Ministry of Higher Education.

Further, Mrs. J.M.C. Jayanthi Wijethunge is a talented officer in Sri Lanka Administrative Service with immense experience as she has served as the Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Labor, the Assistant Commissioner (Registration of Title) of Land Department of Settlement, Assistant Director of Pensions, Deputy Director (Establishment) of Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Senior Assistant Secretary (Acting) of Ministry of Plan Implementation and Parliamentary Affairs, Divisional Secretary of Negombo, Director (Establishment) of Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Deputy Chief Secretary (Administration) of the Western Province Chief Secretary’s Office, and Secretary to the Western Provincial Ministry of Education and Local Government.

Secretaries to the Ministries of the Western Province, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Department Heads and public officers participated in a ceremony organized for her assumption of duties.
